The Runaway Kite
Tom and Lucy loved flying kites. One windy afternoon, they made a big red kite with a dragon face. They took it to the park and let it soar. “This is the best kite ever!” Lucy said. But a sudden gust of wind pulled the kite too hard. The string slipped out of Tom’s hands, and the kite flew away. “Come back, kite!” Tom shouted. They ran after it, across the park, through a field, and into a tree. The kite was stuck high in the branches. Lucy had an idea. “Let’s use a long stick to get it down.” They found a stick, but it wasn’t long enough. Then Tom spotted a boy with a basketball. “Can we borrow your ball?” Tom asked. The boy threw the ball, and it knocked the kite free! Tom and Lucy cheered. “Thanks!” Lucy said. They flew the kite again but held onto the string extra tight this time.
