The Great Ice Cream Race
Sam loved ice cream more than anything in the world. His favorite flavors were chocolate, strawberry, and mint. One summer, the town announced an “Ice Cream Race.” The winner would get a year’s supply of ice cream! “I have to Sam said. The race was simple: contestants had to eat a giant ice cream cone as fast as they could. But there was a catch—it had five layers, each with a different flavor. Sam practiced every day. He ate small cones, big cones, and even weird flavors like pickle ice cream. His best friend, Mia, cheered him on. “You can do it, Mia said. The big day arrived. Sam stood at the starting line with five other contestants. The whistle blew, and everyone grabbed their cones. Sam started with the first layer, vanilla. It was easy. Next came strawberry, which was his favorite. But when he got to the third layer, lemon, it was so sour his eyes watered. “Don’t stop, Mia shouted. Sam powered through. The fourth layer was mint, and the final layer was chocolate. By then, his brain felt frozen. “I can’t feel my Sam said. But he didn’t give up. With one last bite, he finished the cone. The crowd cheered. Sam looked around and saw he was the first to finish. “You did Mia shouted. Sam smiled. Winning the race was sweet, but the best part was sharing his prize. He threw an ice cream party for the whole town.
