The Great Cat Heist
Margaret loved her cat, Pickles, more than anything. Pickles was a mischievous tuxedo cat with a penchant for stealing small objects: socks, earrings, even keys. Margaret often joked that Pickles was preparing for a life of crime. Little did she know, her joke would become a reality. One summer, the town’s annual bake sale competition was gearing up. Margaret was preparing her famous apple pie when she noticed her rolling pin was missing. She searched the kitchen but couldn’t find it. Suspicious, she followed Pickles, who led her to his “stash” in the attic. Alongside her rolling pin were dozens of other small items Pickles had “collected” from around the neighborhood. Margaret decided to return the items, but as she knocked on doors, the neighbors laughed, recalling how they had lost their own odd objects. Soon, Pickles became a local celebrity. The bake sale organizers even asked him to “judge” the pies by sitting next to the winner. Margaret’s pie didn’t win, but Pickles got a blue ribbon for “Most Mischievous Cat”.
