The Farewell Portrait

C1

Isabelle was a talented painter, but her reserved nature made it hard for her to make friends. That changed when she met Hannah, a vibrant and outgoing classmate in art school. Hannah encouraged Isabelle to embrace her talents and pushed her to take risks, both in her art and in life. The two became inseparable, but after graduation, Hannah decided to travel the world, while Isabelle stayed behind to open a small gallery. Saying goodbye was bittersweet, but Isabelle painted a portrait of Hannah as a gift, capturing her essence as both a farewell and a token of gratitude. Years passed, and Isabelle’s gallery thrived, but she often thought of Hannah. One day, she received a letter from Hannah, who had been traveling through remote villages. Enclosed was a photograph of Isabelle’s portrait, displayed in a local art festival abroad. Inspired, Isabelle decided to visit Hannah. Their reunion was emotional, and they realized that despite the distance, their friendship had grown stronger through the art they had shared.
